The second zonal event of year-long Children Yoga Festival 2016, was successfully conducted on 31st January 2017 at Kola Saraswathi Vaishnav Sr Sec School, Kilpauk, where 91 children from 8 schools actively participated in the day-long event comprising 8 Thematic Yoga Skill Demonstrations, Oratorical Skill Demonstrations, Quiz, Keerthan, etc.,
The event was started off lighting of Lamp by the Principal Mrs Sundari, Vice-Principal Mrs Sharmila Soman, Sn Shiva Rishi and other dignitaries on the dais. Mrs Sharmila Soman welcomed the gathering. Sn Shiva Rishi, Founder Satyananda Yoga Education Charitable Trust delivered the keynote address. The Chief guest Smt Sulochana Muthu, and Guest of honour Shri Narendran shared their inspiring experiences with children. Smt Sumitra Vivek delivered the vote of thanks.
All the participants were given participation gifts “Satyam Prasad” sponsored by ITC Classmate.
Yoga demonstrations on varied themes like “Invoking the deities through mantras, Yoga as a source of health, Story of the Lion and the Bull, Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya, Siva Thandavam, Vande Mataram, Yoga for the mind and soul, The story of cowherd and lion”, apart from making yoga interesting, introduced to the children varied benefits of yoga, as also morals and values.
Oratorical Skill demonstrations on the themes Nature and Yoga, Power of mantra, Yamas and Niyamas demonstrated the in-depth knowledge the children had gained about these yogic concepts.
The next and mega zonal event will be held on 14th Feb 2017. This day is celebrated as Bala Yoga Diwas (Children Yoga Day) across the world commemorating the birthday of Bala Yogi, Swami Niranjananda Saraswathi who surrendered to his Guru, Swami Satyananda at the age of four.
